CLASSROOM ACCOUNTABILITY AGENDA
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
1. Be prompt and ready to learn when class begins.
2. Be prepared, have materials with you and know due dates.
3. Be a polite and positive participant. Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively.
4. Be productive turn in work on time, and always do your best.
5. Be a problem solver, Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.
NEEDED MATERIALS
Bring your binder (three ring binder), paper, and pen/ pencil to class everyday.
WARM-UPS
Every class will begin with a Do Now. Instructions will be on the board. It should be started as soon as you arrive to class and includes turning in your homework.
BINDERS
Binders will consist of all materials needed for class also your folders. All warm-ups, class notes, activities, homework assignments, etc…will be kept in a well-organized section labeled for social studies.
NOTES
Notes are required in this class. We will use a variety of methods.
PARTICIPATION
Being in class, prepared, and actively involved helps you learn. Therefore, you will be excused from this class only with a written request from another staff member and permission from me. Do not ask to miss this class to work on an assignment from another class!
MAKE-UP WORK
Upon returning from an unplanned absence, the student will request all assignments missed. These assignments are due the next class period except in the case of consecutive absences. Time allowed for making up these assignments from extended absences should correlate with the number of classes missed. However, previously assigned work with stated due dates is due immediately upon the student's return.
For a planned absence, see the teacher for assignments BEFORE the absence and turn work in on scheduled due dates.
MAKE -UP TESTS
All tests must be made-up within two weeks of the student's return. Plan to stay for coaching or testing or make arrangements to come in after school with the teacher.
HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENTS
I believe that homework is important, it is an extension of our lessons, and provides valuable practice and preparation. Homework is expected to be turned in on the date it is due. Homework should be written each class. If you are absent, visit my class website and look under your class title for assignments for the week.
LATE TO CLASS
You are late to class unless you have a signed note. When u are late you receive a demerit
LEAVING CLASS
You must sign out when you leave and in when you re-enter the classroom on the classroom log located by the door. You may request a restroom or nurse pass two times a marking period.
WRITING
Essay questions, journals, and reports are a part of this class. Assignments must be completed in blue/black ink or typed. Correct grammar and spelling are expected.
GRADING POLICY PERCENTAGES
Students are expected and are allowed to initiate a conference with the teacher to discuss options to earn a maximum score up to 65% if they score below a 65% on an assessment.

Attend Social Studies Coaching with Mr. Mitchell, I will also be available after school by appointment.

More Classroom expectations
I expect students to:
Be On Task
• Be on time and prepared for class. This means you unpack and place backpacks in the back of the classroom in your assigned area. Once you unpack begin working on your Do Now. No exceptions!
• Participate by completing class work when it is assigned.
• Work quickly and quietly on individual assignments. Work cooperatively on group assignments.
• Follow directions promptly and accurately.
Be Responsible
• Have all assignments completed on time and have all materials needed for class!!
Sharpen pencils and have materials ready.
Be Respectful
• Avoid disruptive behavior: talking out of turn, tapping on the desk, throwing materials or any other behavior that distracts from classroom activities.
• Raise a hand to speak. Do not shout out answers unless the teacher asks you to do so.
• Leave other people’s belongings alone.
Be Courteous –
• Demonstrate courtesy towards Mr. Mitchell and fellow class members by using kind words.
• Speak nicely to one another. No Put-Downs and No “Shut Up” please.
• Food and drinks are not allowed in the classroom. Violation of this rule will result in cleanup of the classroom.
Be Appropriate –
• Remember the classroom is an academic setting and topics of conversation, comments, and words should be professional in nature.
• Vulgar language is NEVER appropriate! Violation of this rule will result in an office referral and a call home.
Be Cooperative –
• Work cooperatively with group members. This means not putting people down for their inadequacies, but being a leader and inspiring others to live up to their full potential. Remember yelling at, putting down, or threatening group members is not a way to inspire them to work harder.
